KinderundJugendmedien.de

I am the co-founder and deputy editor-in-chief of KinderundJugendmedien.de, the largest German-language internet portal devoted to research on literature and other media for children and young adults. KinderundJugendmedien.de aims at providing scholars with information for their research, but it also addresses parents and other persons with an interest in children’s media.

KinderundJugendmedien.de regularly publishes reviews on classical and new books, picture books and films for children and young adults. An online encyclopedia provides information about authors, works, themes and main concepts in children’s literature and media. A section on media history provides articles on the history of children’s literature, children’s film and children’s television. New developments, calls for papers, conferences, festivals, awards, and other events are covered by a constantly updated news section. A linkography  provide links to children’s media institutions, databases, magazines, etc. Students and scholars find bibliographies with fundamental research literature on children’s literature, children’s film, picture books, fairy tales, and phantastic literature.

The editorial team currently consists of eleven members, all of them young scholars active in various areas of children’s media research, who take care of the various sections of the website. So far, more than 150 authors have contributed to the website, among them leading scholars in children’s literature and children’s media research.

KinderundJugendmedien.de was founded in 2012 in the context of a research and teaching project supported by Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. The portal is now affiliated with the University of Bremen (Faculty 10: Languages and Literary Studies).
